Alfred Tilk — Greenfield
Alfred Dean Tilk, 84, of rural Greenfield died Sept. 17, 2007, at Good Samaritan Center in Fontanelle. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Greenfield. The Rev. Keith Schweitzer will officiate the service. Burial will be in Greenfield Cemetery. Open visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at Steen Funeral Home, 101 S.E. Fourth St., Greenfield. Memorials may be given in his name. Alfred Dean Tilk, son of Ella (Hoepner) and John Tilk, was born Aug. 31, 1923, in Adair County. On Nov. 24, 1946, Alfred married Leida May Mangels at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Greenfield. He was a school bus and truck driver. Survivors include his son Larry Tilk of rural Fontanelle; two daughters, Carol (husband Kevin) Hall of Greenfield and Nancy (husband Donnie) Acheson of West Des Moines; brother Darriel Tilk of Watertown, S. D.; sister Norma (husband Leo) Lane of Pharr, Texas; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard, wife Leida and son Gene.
