Don’t complain, volunteer

I had a complaint last week as to why the Christmas lights were still on in Rainbow Park. The only thing that’s on was the fountain.

First of all, you must not have had any snow in your yard this winter. We tried to get in the park to turn everything off. I, myself, tried several times to crawl up over a snow drift, which was on all four sides of the park. After falling in a snow drift, that was it! The drifts were at least four feet tall in some places.

If you would have volunteered, maybe you could have mastered the snow and you could have helped us out by unplugging them. All it takes is one person to ruin something for everyone. We don’t have to decorate the park.

In two evenings last year, I saw eight greyhound buses come to look at it.

So, don’t sit in your chair eating a cookie looking for something to complain about! It wasn’t too smart to complain with all the snow we’ve had this winter to try and take down the stuff. Who could even get them down in their yards? Did you get yours down? Hope so. It takes a lot of work to put up and take down the lights. I’ve got the best volunteers there is! Maybe I should have asked the city to scoop up and haul away all the snow in Rainbow Park, then we could “git er done.”
