Creston athletics invest in Plus 1 Power program

Approximately 150 people congregated in the Creston High School gymnasium Friday afternoon.

Fathers, the dozen or more in attendance, listened, try ing to absorb the content of the new Plus 1 Power and Performance program, soon to be used by all Creston athletic programs.

The junior male athletes, all good friends, grouped just off of center.

Mothers, most there to make sure of the safety, listened intently.

And the biggest of all groups, the middle school athletes, eagerly participated in the discussion.

Who were they listening to, discussing with?

All attention was on Zach Mathers, coordinator of the Power Plus program — a strength and conditioning system designed primarily to prevent athletic injuries, as well as strengthen Creston athletes.

It’s a system designed to train athletes differently, Mathers told the group.
