Sewer-system proposal flushed

Southern Iowa Rural Water Association’s (SIRWA) proposed systemwide, on-site sewer project won’t become a reality this year.

Dan McIntosh, SIRWA general manager, told Union County Board of Supervisors Monday the project has been tabled by the SIRWA board after not receiving sufficient support.

“I still think it’s a great proposal,” McIntosh said. “The problem is we’re not getting much support. Basically, local sanitarians don’t even want to do it.”
