Freedom of religion?
In my last column, I mentioned that Barry slapped the Boy Scouts of America in the face by declining to speak at their 100th Birthday Celebration. I commented that just when you think this man couldn’t slap America anymore, here comes a new one.
As you know there’s been quite a controversy over building a mosque in the shadows of Ground Zero. Barry says this is a matter of freedom of religion. While Muslims do have their own religion, radical Islam is NOT a religion. Jihad is intended to eliminate, annihilate, and destroy anyone who doesn’t think the way they do. If you were a family member of a person slaughtered by these cowards on 9-11, what would you think?
Between Barry and Michelle taking vacations together and separately, they have managed to spend millions of dollars that we don’t have. He can stand on his bully pulpit and lecture all of us “common people” about saving money, but of course, it’s different with “the Anointed One.”
With an approval rating hovering at 40 percent maybe I would take a vacation, as well. The reality is that the American people are finally starting to know that they made a big mistake in the last election.
Back to radical Islam for a second. Any so called religion that condones honor killing in the name of God is twisted, pure and simple.
The oil spill in the Gulf is slowly becoming less of a story. The anti-capitalist regime hates this. Dog gone it, it’s getting harder and harder to find any tar balls. The oil workers who were shut down and moved to other off-shore locations around the world could tell you this. It’s hard to believe that one man could have this much power i.e. the complete destruction of the American economy.
On a lighter note, we recently returned from the annual “pilgrimage” to Sturgis, S.D. I have now made 20 trips to “biker heaven.” It’s not just the town of Sturgis that is such a draw for bikers all over the country and for that matter all over the world. It is all of the Black Hills area.
To me, Deadwood, Hill City, Spearfish Canyon, and Nemo (just to name a few locations) are some of the most beautiful spots in the country. This year had to have been one of the biggest years ever. It was the 70th Anniversary of the biggest biker rally in the country.
One down side might be that too many people think it’s a good idea to buy a Harley, go to Sturgis, drink beer, and learn how to ride. It makes for a very dangerous situation for everyone trying to share the roads.
Iowa has had an unusually high amount of motorcycle fatalities this season. When the Iowa Legislature reconvenes, the normal nanny suspects will be screaming to put helmets on our heads whether we like it or not. It doesn’t matter that in most cases helmets would have made no difference in the outcome of the rider.
It looks kind of bad for Gov. Culver in November. The last poll that I saw was 71 percent to 28 percent. He and Barry now have something in common — they are both total failures.
In November, it will be refreshing to welcome Gov. Branstad back to the Statehouse. His Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds, will be a great asset to bringing back conservatism to our state.
In closing, how’s all that hope and change working out for ya?
