January is National Blood Donor Month
From Union County Blood Drive coordinators, Betty Wallace, Betty Jungst and Kay Ritter
Creston
As blood drive coordinators with the American Red Cross, we encourage donors to give and provide them a place to do so.
We are grateful for all Union County donors. Each day thousands of volunteer donors are needed to ensure that blood products are available for patients.
The following is a letter to an anonymous donor from Emily to the donor(s) who saved her life.
Dear mystery donor,
I just wanted to say thank you for taking time out of your day to donate blood. Because of you, I was given the chance to live. Without your blood donation, I would not be alive. Because of you, I was able to learn how to play sports. Because of you, I was able to graduate from high school and move on to college to further my education. Because of you, hopefully one day I will be saving lives, like you did, by helping others in the medical field. If I haven’t mentioned it enough, thank you, because you changed my Life.
Emily
We offer you our sincerest gratitude and share this example of the life changing act that happens each time you give blood.
Our next blood drive is Feb. 27, 2012, at Trinity Lutheran Church.
Thank you.
