Christopher Gage Cosenza Jr., 20, 308 N. Elm St., was charged with public intoxication and assault on a peace officer 10:29 p.m. Wednesday in the 600 block of West Mills Street.

According to a Creston police report, officers were dispatched to the alley behind 606 W. Mills St. for a man crawling around on the ground near a truck. They observed Cosenza standing on the south side of the alley and he appeared to be intoxicated with bloodshot and watery eyes, slurred speech and an odor of an alcoholic beverage. Cosenza attempted to walk away as officers were talking to him. When officers tried to stop Cosenza, he turned around and backhanded one of the officers in the forearm in an attempt to get away.

Cosenza is being held in the Union County Jail on $1,000 bond.

Lori Lee Graham, 46, 212 S. Pine St., was charged 5:01 p.m. Wednesday at 219 1/2 N. Pine St. on a Ringgold County warrant for second-degree theft and third-degree burglary.

Graham was released to Ringgold County.
