Austin Roger Boswell, 18, of Lamoni was charged with public intoxication and fifth-degree shoplifting 6:11 a.m. Friday at Casey’s General Store in Afton.

According to an Afton police report, Boswell came into Casey’s General Store and picked up several items to purchase. Boswell put a bottle of alcohol into his coat pocket and when he was getting ready to leave the store, the manager confronted him about the bottle of alcohol in his coat. Boswell gave the bottle of alcohol back.

Boswell is being held in the Union County Jail on $300 bond.
