The IHA annual meeting will be held Oct. 11 in Des Moines and several members are registered to attend. Helen Mosman has been nominated as a "shining star."

Carolyn Abel gave a gift shop report. The shop will be closed Nov. 19 and Christmas opening day will be Nov. 20. The gift shop will be open two nights from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Nov. 29 and Dec. 13.

The scholarship checks were sent to the colleges for the recipients entering the medical field. Some thank yous were read.

The next bloodmobile will be Nov. 5 at Trinity Lutheran Church hall.

A jewelry sale was held Tuesday. A book sale will be held 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 25 in the MAP conference and vending rooms.

2012 volunteer in service dates are 8:30 a.m. to noon and 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Sept. 26 and 8:30 a.m. to noon Oct. 1.

The next meeting will be Oct. 8 at the MAP conference room.

Delta Kappa Gamma

Beta Kappa Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma met 6:15 p.m. Sept. 4 at Winterset United Methodist Church with 10 members and one guest present. The guest speaker for the evening was Susie Meade, the new superintendent of the Winterset School District. She informed the group about the initiative projects performed by the high school students in the district. She also spoke about the academy, preschool and advisor/advisee programs in the high school.

During the regular business meeting, members were reminded that dues of $65 should be paid as soon as possible. Any members not present at the meeting can contact Karen Tussey if there are any changes in address or phone number before the new program books are printed. Tussey will send for DKG brochures to include with some of our service projects so people can learn about our society.

Red Rose Awards were presented to those members who missed the June meeting. The award program will be continued for the 2012-13 year with the same criteria. The treasurer will send Tessa Mittag, a graduate of Orient-Macksburg, a $200 check for the Grant-in-Aid scholarship she won last spring. Two chapter members will be attending the fall executive board meeting Saturday. Oct. 6 is the date for the state president's meeting. Beta Kappa is responsible for the programs.
