Kent Dinner Club

Kent Dinner Club met Sept. 13 at Creston Family Restaurant with eight attending.

The next meeting will be 5:30 p.m. Oct. 11 at Creston Family Restaurant.

Delta Kappa Gamma International

PI Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma International met Sept. 10 at Salem Lutheran Church with Jean Ann Taylor providing the meal. Sixteen members were present.

President Joan Lienemann called the meeting to order.

The May minutes were approved as read.

The treasurer’s report was given by Kim Riley, newly-installed treasurer. All expenses are current.

Correspondence: A thank you note was read from Bailey Fry-Schnormeier for the donation given for arts in the school, by the chapter. Martha Pine also gave a written and verbal thank you for the monetary gift from the chapter when she lost her home to the April 14 tornado. She also thanked Joan Lienemann for taking care of the paperwork in order to receive support from the National Relief Fund of Delta Kappa Gamma.

Old Business: Lienemann presented member Dianne Davis with a memorial book to give to the family of Ellen Cain.

Merging chapters was discussed, as well as Dresses for Africa.

New Business: Martha Pine, past president, installed Kim Riley as chapter treasurer, and Sandy Harris as vice president.

Pine spoke of her personal experience of the tornado.

Changes in by-Laws were discussed.

State President Roxie Swartz will visit Oct. 6 in Adel with a 9:30 a.m. brunch. Pi chapter is in charge of napkins and table decorations. Cost is $10 by Sept. 29.

M/S/C by Sandy Harris and Kay Raymond to allow the executive board to decide payment for the president’s visit.

State theme, “Arts in the School,” will continue this year with the national theme being “Support Early Career Educators.”

The next meeting will be Oct. 8 at Corning Opera House.

Bancroft History Assembly

Bancroft History Assembly of Creston met 1:30 p.m. Sept. 17 at the D.V. Richardson Conference Room at Greater Regional Medical Center. There were nine regular members and five lifetime members present for a total of 14 members. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
