MOUNT AYR — Nodaway Valley won two straight 25-21 sets to finish off the Pride of Iowa Conference victory, after splitting the opening sets, 25-20, 18-25.

Christine Gross hit nine kills and Megan McIntosh added eight as the Wolverines improved to 7-14 overall, and 2-2 in the conference. Sydney Reeves served 18-18 with four aces and Gross was 18-21 with four aces.

Reeves was also active defensively, with four blocks and 18-21 on serve receive. Josie Carter had 12 digs, with Gross and Shelby Venteicher each collecting 11. Venteicher was 65-65 setting with 10 assists. Ashley Thompson was 23-23 with five assists.

“We started and finished really well,” coach Carley Denton said. “We just had too many, and too long of lulls. Our passing and serving ws better, but we have to keep improving that.”

Logan Wimer and Paige Daughton each had seven kills for Mount Ayr. Daughton also had nine digs and served 13-14 with two aces. Caitlin Giles had 11 setting assists and served 14-15 with a team-high four aces. Maggie Jennett was busy at the service line, going 24-25 with two aces.

Leah Klech had a team-best nine blocks. Leading the defense in digs were Brook Rychnovsky with 14 and Madi Hosfield with 11.
