Clifford Norvell Houck — Corning

Clifford Norvell Houck, 75, of Corning died Sept. 27, 2012, at Alegent Health Mercy Hospital in Corning.

Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. today, Oct. 1, 2012, at the First Presbyterian Church in Corning. Larry Johnson and the Rev. Steven Wainwright officiated. Interment was in Oakland Cemetery in Quincy. Pearson Family Funeral Services, 701 Seventh St., Corning, was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to Carbon Community Hall. Clifford Norvell Houck, son of Mary Cecelia (Quinn) and Clifford Earl Houck, was born July 17, 1937, near Carbon.

Norvell attended Corning High School and graduated in 1954.

On April 6, 1957, Norvell married Phyllis Arlene Mullin in Council Bluffs.

Norvell helped organize the annual coal miners reunion, where he currently served as president.

Norvell was a grain and livestock farmer. He raised Dutch Belted Cattle.

Norvell attended the Disciples of Christ Church in Prescott.

Norvell is survived by his wife Phyllis Houck of Corning; daughter Joni Houck of Ames; brother Ray (wife Jan) Houck of Corning; nieces, Jana and Jennifer and nephews, Jeremy and James.

Norvell was preceded in death by his parents and son Jeff in 1984.
