Leon Fox Invite

PERRY — The Creston middle school boys and girls cross country teams both finished third at the Leon Fox Invitational here on Thursday.

Ben Irr finished second overall in the boys race, running 11:56. Isaiah Foster and Isaac Wignall also placed well, running 10th and 11th, respectively, in 12:49 and 12:52.

In the girls competition, Angela Drey and Danielle Castillo led the Panthers with their 16th and 17th place finishes in 14:38 and 14:41.

"We had another great performance last night," head coach Clay Arnold said. "We have been talking a lot about race strategy and I thought the kids did a tremendous job of executing their strategies to maximize their performance. The competition level was the toughest we have seen so far, and I thought as a team we answered that competition and ran the best we have so far."

The Creston team competes at Nodaway Valley today.
