Tri-Center 54, Nodaway Valley 7
GREENFIELD — A 26-point second quarter broke open a close game as Tri-Center, Neola went on to a 54-7 victory over Nodaway Valley here Friday.
The Wolverines fall to 0-6 overall and 0-3 in Class 1A District 8.
The game was tied at 7 apiece after Kain Queck’s 7-yard rush and Ryan Williams’ kick tied it with :17 left in the first quarter.
But Tri-Center quickly answered back, scoring on the final play of the first quarter to regain the lead.
Then, a series of big offensive plays and good special teams play propelled Tri-Center to a 40-7 lead heading into halftime.
“Tri-Center is a good football team,” head coach Steve Shantz said. “We moved the ball well, but could not finish once again. Big plays and special teams blew open the game in the second quarter after a very competitive first quarter.”
Nodaway Valley travels to Treynor on Friday.

LAMONI — A 10-point East Union halftime lead disintegrated in the second half here Friday, as Lamoni came from behind to win 50-48 over the Eagles.
Trevor Barnett had a monster day through the air, completing 12-of-26 for 321 yards and five touchdowns, compared to just one interception.
Three of those touchdowns went to Caleb Case, who hauled in six catches in total for 145 yards.
Sean Schmitz added a 79-yard touchdown catch and Bryson Kinyon caught two passes for 73 yards, including a 65-yard score.
Barnett and Kinyon each added a rushing touchdown.
Jeremiah Crago led the team with 19 total tackles.
East Union drops to 2-6 overall and 1-3 in the district. The Eagles host Mormon Trail on Friday.

ANITA — CAM used a good mix of running and passing to race past Lenox Friday, 60-20.
CAM is now tied with Fremont-Mills at 4-1 in the district, and 5-2 overall. They stand one game behind Sidney, which defeated F-M Friday night. Lenox, also 5-2 overall, stands fourth in the district at 4-2 with a one game lead over Corning, which visits Lenox this Friday.
Lenox and CAM traded early touchdowns Friday, but CAM moved in front 22-6 by the end of the first period, and the contest snowballed from there, coach Allen Dukes said.
“We had opportunities, but dropped passes really hurt our drives,” Dukes said. “The defense didn’t tackle very well and missed coverages allowed CAM’s offense all the opportunities it needed to put the game away.”
