Corning 0

BEDFORD — Bedford swept Corning in three competitive sets here Tuesday, defeating the Red Raiders 25-21, 25-20, 25-21.

Corning falls to 9-11 for the season.

Marie Palmer led the team with 12 kills and two solo blocks, while also serving 7-of-8.

Sierra Sleep served 17-18 with two aces and a team-high 11 digs, and Kelsie Kinman served 11-12 with one ace, while also collecting three kills. Ella Akin added three kills and served 8-8 with one ace. Sydney Maynes also finished with three kills.

Caitlyn Damewood finished with 13 assists and Taylor Damewood added seven.

“Marie Palmer had a great night at the net for us with 12 kills, two solo blocks and one assisted block,” head coach Lindsay Wetzel said. “Caitlyn Damewood also had a good night with setting duties with 13 assists and was 13-of-13 serving. We played well, but it seemed like the little things we didn’t do came at critical points late in the sets and was the difference in the game.”

Corning is back in action on Thursday at the Mount Ayr quad.

MOUNT AYR — The Murray volleyball team defeated Mount Ayr 25-22, 22-25, 25-14, 25-13 here on Monday.

Cheyanne Ashby had a big night at the net for the Mustangs with 10 kills and eight blocks. Hannah Barber added eight kills and 12 digs, while also serving 17-of-17 and going 11-12 on serve receive.

Ashley Rider had four kills and served 13-13 with two aces. Kate Patton finished with three kills and 19 assists. Courtney Siefkas served 19-19 with three aces and Megan Oswald finished with 12 digs.

Murray (9-5 overall) returns to action Saturday with the Martensdale-St. Marys tournament.
