AFTON – Amber Friend had a big night on senior night for the East Union Eagles during a 25-20, 25-19, 25-17 sweep of Mount Ayr here Tuesday.

Friend led the Eagles with 18 kills, 12 digs and three aces on 9-of-10 serving. Fellow senior Dusti Carlisle also had 12 digs, while senior Rochelle Means finished with three aces as well.

Senior Shelby Smith finished with three kills, one assist, five digs, one block assist and served 6-11.

Brittany Malone finished with 10 kills and one solo block to go along with seven digs. Kelsey Hoff finished with two kills and two solo blocks. Means added seven kills and 36 assists.

Mormon Trail 3, Diagonal 1

GARDEN GROVE – Diagonal dropped a competitive match to Mormon Trail here Tuesday, losing 20-25, 25-19, 22-25, 23-25.

Elly Brown led the team in three stat categories, collecting eight kills, six aces and 23 digs. Charlene Hingeley finished with seven kills and 18 digs.

Mariah Kilgore had one kill with two aces and 21 digs. Kate Holmes finished with three kills, nine assists, three aces and 17 digs. Makayla Boothe had two kills, one ace and four digs.

“The girls played their best games yet,” head coach Allison Hajek said. “There were a lot of long rallies.”

Diagonal travels to Moravia today.

Orient-Macks. 3, Glidden-Ralston 2

ORIENT – The Orient Macksburg Bulldogs won a back and forth match against Glidden-Ralston here Tuesday, 22-25, 25-22, 23-25, 27-25, 15-10.

Jasmine Ruckman and Gabby Jenkins had big nights at the net in the victory, as Ruckman led the team with 16 kills and Jenkins added 14 while leading the team with four blocks.

Tara Guion served 20-22 with three aces while also collecting 28 assists. Chrystal Patten served 17-17 and led the team with 25 digs. Sarah Albee added 17 assists.

“Glidden-Ralston is a good team – one of the best teams in the conference,” head coach Dan McKinney said. “Both teams battled each other. We got a little in the fifth and kept pressure on them.”

Nodaway Valley 3, Lenox 1

GREENFIELD — Nodaway Valley defeated Lenox 25-22, 25-13, 23-25, 25-14 here Tuesday.
