Public hearing to be held on renaming of Swan Street

The Creston City Council will be holding a public hearing 6 p.m. Oct. 16 in the council chambers at the restored Creston Depot for the purpose of renaming Swan Street to Green Hills Avenue. Swan Street is located on the south side of the Burton R. Jones complex, and goes from North Elm Street to North Pine Street.

“Green Hills AEA is moving into the old middle-school portion of that building,” said Creston Mayor Warren Woods during the regular Creston City Council meeting Tuesday. “They would like to have this named Green Hills Avenue.”

Councilwoman Nancy Loudon added Swan Street was named after Col. Simeon D. Swan, the first mayor of Creston.
