Spartans rally for road victory

MARSHALLTOWN — Down by six points in the third set, in danger of falling behind 2-1, the Southwestern Community College volleyball team rallied to win and go on to post a 3-1 road victory Wednesday night.

The Spartans won 25-22, 21-25, 25-23, 25-20 to improve to 17-7 for the season. Marshalltown fell to 6-16 in the match that did not count in the region standings.

“This was a great win for us,” coach Melissa Blessington said. “Marshalltown is a very scrappy team and we had to work hard for every point. WE came back in the third game. Serna Yong came in and gave us a great lift. Lilly Lower had a great hight for us in the middle, and that came from great passing and setting.”
