Vivian Schwab — Creston
Vivian Schwab, 90, of Creston died Oct. 3, 2012, at Creston Nursing & Rehab Center.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 8, at Pearson Family Funeral Service, 809 W. Montgomery St., Creston. A luncheon will be held at the funeral home following the service. Mary O’Riley will officiate. Interment will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Greenfield Cemetery. Open visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday with the family present 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Vivian Nadine Schwab, daughter of Lucy Elfeda (Jones) and Melvin Homer Huffman, was born Sept. 28, 1922, at Nevinville.
Vivian grew up on a farm near Nevinville and graduated from Richland Township High School. On July 3, 1941, Vivian married Jesse Earl Schwab at Grant City, Mo. After their marriage, they lived on a farm south of Greenfield for several years. They moved to Creston around 1955.
Vivian worked a few years for Gits Manufacturing. After that, Vivian worked for several different physicians as their assistant at Creston Medical Clinic. Vivian also helped patients with their Social Security and Medicare issues at the clinic.
Vivian was a member of the XYZ card club in Creston. She was a former member of both the United Methodist Church and Trinity Lutheran Church.
Vivian is survived by her children, Gail (wife Verline) Schwab of Glenwood, Connie (husband Eldon) Harden of Creston and Gregg Schwab (and Bev Hoffmann) of New Ulm, Minn.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Shirlene Huffman of Oklahoma City, Okla.; many nieces; nephews and other relatives.
Vivian was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 2005; three brothers, Tom Huffman, Richard Huffman and infant James Huffman; six sisters, Mary Everling, Martha Semtak, Elva Smith, Carey Fleming, Bernice Kerrigan and Helen Britten.
