Jeremy Kuhlman, 30, of Ankeny, was charged 3:28 a.m. Sunday at the Union County Law Enforcement Center for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

According to a Creston Police report, officers were dispatched to Kum and Go, 301 W. Taylor St., for a male passed out in a Jeep with the engine running and doors locked. Upon arrival, officers witnessed a silver Jeep with the engine running. Officers attempted numerous times to wake the driver. The driver woke up and was advised to open the door. The driver was identified as Kuhlman by an Iowa driver's license. Officers advised Kuhlman to turn off the Jeep and take the keys out of the ignition. Officers could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. Kuhlman admitted he had too much to drink, and consented to standardized field sobriety testing, which indicated multiple clues of impairment. Kuhlman had bloodshot, watery eyes, and refused to submit a sample of his breath into the preliminary breath test. Kuhlman was transported to the Union County Law Enforcement Center, and was asked to give a sample of his breath on the DataMaster, which he refused.

Kuhlman was released on $1,000 bond.
