Spartans sweep at home

Southwestern made quick work of Graceland JV in a Friday night volleyball match here, 25-9, 25-15, 29-27.

Ashley Strong pounded 15 kills for the Spartans, now 18-7. Jacelle Neill had 16 digs and Alex Duffy served 12-12 with a pair of aces. Molly Schimp averaged 10 setting assists per set.

“This was a good match for us,” coach Melissa Blessington said. “We started out strong in the first two games. We were able to bring a lot of players in tonight to play in the third game and for me it is always fun to see thsoe girls compate at a high level. This win was a total team effort.”

Southwestern hosts 10th-ranked DMACC (16-6) in a conference match at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
