Bedford, Interstate 35, Martensdale-St. Marys and East Union advanced to tonight’s final four of the Pride of Iowa volleyball championships at Afton.

Bedford meets Interstate 35 and East Union takes on Martensdale-St. Marys in the other semifinal, both at 6 p.m. today. Matches for first place and third place take place at about 7:30 p.m.

At Bedford, Bedford swept Pleasantville, 25-20, 25-20; Pleasantville defeated Lenox, 25-17, 25-22; and Bedford topped Lenox, 25-17, 25-22.

For Lenox against Pleasantville, Katie Dukes smacked seven kills. Madison Douglas served 8-8 with 2 aces. Against Bedford, Allie Powell served 7-7 with one ace, Hannah Maxa hit three kills and Aurora Arevalo had four digs.

At Truro, Interstate 35 beat Central Decatur 21-18, 21-14; and got past Nodaway Valley 9-21, 21-14, 15-13; while Nodaway Valley swept Central Decatur, 21-17, 21-12.

At Martensdale, Martensdale-St. Marys swept Mount Ayr, 25-12, 25-16; and beat Southeast Warren, 25-10, 25-10. Southeast Warren edged Mount Ayr, 25-23, 24-26, 17-15.

At Afton, host East Union rolled past Wayne, 25-14, 25-7; and knocked off Corning, 25-15, 25-9. Corning beat Wayne, 25-16, 25-22, as Ella Akin had six kills, three solo blocks, 7-7 serving and 8-10 serve receive. Marie Palmer added six kills and Caitlyn Damewood set 11 aces. In the East Union match, Akin served 6-6, received serve 10-10 and hit a team-high five kills. Kelsie Kinman led the defense with seven digs.

CAM tourney

ANITA — Nodaway Valley beat CAM, Panorama and Riverside at the CAM Tournament Saturday, before losing to Tri-Center.

NV, now 10-15, swept CAM 21-17, 21-17; defeated Panorama 21-12, 21-19; and nipped Riverside 21-6, 14-21, 20-18. Tri-Center swept the Wolverines 25-16, 25-13.

“We had a good day,” said NV coach Carley Denton. “The girls had fun playing and were able to come together when things weren’t going the best.”

For the day, Sydney Reeves hit 21 kills for NV. Christine Gross had 18 kills and Megan McIntosh finished with 16. Serving leaders were Lisa Marnin at 24-25 with three aces, and Rachel Jacobson 16-17 with two aces. Shelby Venticher set 45 of the team’s 52 assists. Ashley Thompson was a defensive leader with 25 digs and 27-33 serve receiving. Reeves had 27 digs and Mega Eblen received serve at 17-21. Megan McIntosh had six blocks.
