Move the library?

Move the library to the old Lincoln School? What seemed like a good idea at the time may not be the best choice for others. There is some concern that the roof, just because it is leaking, but only when it rains, would have to be replaced. It's a solid building, but old. The vacated Franklin School has a brand new roof on it, paid for through a grant obtained by SIRF, the current owners, before they changed their minds, for whatever they were going to use it for.

So, just for a moment, let's look at Franklin School as a possible location for the library. There's plenty of room to sink wells for a geo-thermal heating and cooling system like the one they were going to put at the Lincoln location, and there's ample room for parking, plus, they have a new state-of-the-art roof, not just a brush over hot tar roof. Franklin is all on one floor with no special handicapped rules to deal with. Like Lincoln, Franklin has a newer added-on space, so square footage might be about the same.

And then, there's the contingent of people who just want to add on to the present library at the present location, and continue to deal with the ongoing flood problems, a part of the original reasons for moving the library in the first place.

Three possible solutions, but with a troublesome timeline to deal with. The Franklin building is to be auctioned off Nov. 3 at 10 a.m. Could this be a time for some upper-level intervention to consider Franklin School, or has the library board already looked at the possibilities and nixed it?
