CORYDON — The Nodaway Valley boys cross country team continued its string of dominance in the Pride of Iowa Conference here Tuesday, winning its ninth title in the past 10 years, and its 13th since 1997.

Overall, it was the Nodaway Valley cross country program’s 25th conference title overall. The girls team has 12 conference championships.

Corning placed second in the boys competition, while the Corning girls won the girls team championship for the second straight year.

The Nodaway Valley boys placed all five scoring runners in the top 20, earning medals, including individual champion senior Colton Graham, who edged out Central Decatur senior Neshemah Breshears by :12 with his time of 18:14.

Also medaling for NV were Timmy Settlemoir (fourth), TJ Bower (eighth), Evan Mahoney (16th), Nathan Venteicher (17th) and Riley McMorran (20th).

The Corning boys earned three medals, as Garrett Newton and Lane Peterson led the Red Raiders by placing sixth and seventh, respectively. Ricky Almaguer placed 14th.

Mount Ayr’s Taylor Richie earned a medal with his 11th-place finish in 19:36.

On the girls side, Corning ran away with the team title with 42 points, beating out Interstate 35’s score of 93 in second place.

Senior Tiffany Shepherd won the individual crown by :31 seconds over Nodaway Valley freshman Destiny Scar, as Shepherd ran 15:51.

Also medaling for Corning were Steph Shuler (seventh), Taylor Gaule (eighth), Darien Keefe (10th), Melissa Winkler (16th) and Andrea Boswell (19th).

For Nodaway Valley, Julie Bricker placed sixth and Kysa Downing finished ninth.

Sophomore Adrian Richards led the way for Mount Ayr, finishing fifth overall in 16:50, while sister Naomi Richards finished 18th in 19:48.

In the boys JV competition, Nodaway Valley earned a perfect score, placing the top five individuals, led by JV champion Dean Frank in 21:25.
