CORNING — Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson beat Corning 20-25, 25-11, 15-5 and Red Oak swept the Red Raiders, 25-16, 25-14 in action Thursday night on the Corning court.
Marie Palmer was 14-14 at the net with five kills and served 9-10 for Corning against TJ. Ella Akin had three blocks. Taylor Damewood served 7-8 with two aces and set 16-21 with six assists. Caitlyn Damewood was 25-28 setting with nine assists.
Against Red Oak, Palmer delivered seven kills. Caitlyn Damewood was 20-23 setting with eight assists and had a good serving match at 11-12 with three aces.
Next action for Corning is Oct. 16 at home in a regional match against Villisca.

AFTON — Eleventh-ranked East Union closed out the regular season in dominant fashion Thursday, beating Southeast Warren 25-8, 25-12, 25-8.
“The girls came out to play tonight and enjoyed their last regular season game,” said coach Gail Thatcher, whose team improves to 21-5.
Individual statistics were not available at press time.
The Eagles open Class 1A regional play Oct. 16 at home against Diagonal.
