Ardena McVay — Creston

Ardena McVay, 88, of Creston, passed away Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012 at the Clearview Home in Mt. Ayr, Ia.

Services will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, October 15, 2012 at the Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Chaplain Terry Roberts will officiate the service. Burial will be at the Diagonal Cemetery. Open visitation, with family receiving friends will be 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. service time on Monday, at the Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Ardena Yvonne (Eighme) McVay was born April 21, 1924 in Ringgold County, Iowa to Rowe LeRoy Eighme and Elizabeth Marie (Olson) Eighme.

Ardena attended country school 3 miles south of Tingley, IA and graduated from Tingley High School in May, 1941.

Upon graduating from high school, Ardena married Donald Charles McVay August 9, 1942 in Los Angeles, Calif. where they lived for a short time. Their life path led them to different parts of the country including Los Angeles, CA; Medford, Oregon; Prescott, IA; Excelsior Spring, Mo; Joplin, Mo; and after retirement to Creston, IA to be near family and friends.

Ardena became a member of the Assembly of God Church in Creston and was very active in the church until her health began to fail. Ardena was a devout Christian and practiced her faith daily.

Ardena was preceded in death by her parents, Rowe and Elizabeth Eighme; husband Don (May, 2008); sister Rowena Taylor; and brother in-law Wayne Taylor.

She is survived by five nieces; Roma Jean Halsey of St. Joseph, MO; Dixie Linkey (Jim) of Kansas City, MO; Twyla Breckenridge of Diagonal, IA; Debbie Capps (Ron) of Kansas City, MO; Annie Jensen (Clark) of Grinnell, IA; and many cousins and host of friends.

Her legacy lives on in all those who loved her and she will be remembered with great fondness.
