Ted McNeill Murray

Ted P. McNeill, 70, of Murray, formerly of Afton, died Oct. 14, 2012, at Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at Afton United Methodist Church. The Rev. Joel Sutton will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery east of Afton. Open visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday with family present 5 to 8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25, Creston. Memorials may be directed to the family. Theodore Paul McNeill, son of Irene Carol (Johnson) and Paul Francis McNeill, was born Feb. 23, 1942, in Algona.

Ted graduated from Algona High School in 1960.

On June 13, 1965, Ted married Sharon Mae Tischer in Spirit Lake.

They operated Lakeside Engineering at Lake Okoboji.

Ted moved to Afton and worked as a chemical dependency counselor, supervising several counties. He also worked out of the Zion Treatment Center, north of Creston from 1975 to 1979. Ted also owned and operated McNeill Tree Service of Afton from 1980 to 2005.

Throughout the years, Ted’s other occupations were roofing, plumbing, electrical, painting and brick laying, and he farmed since 1992.

Ted was a member of Afton United Methodist Church, National Rifleman Association and Alcohol Anonymous.

Ted is survived by his wife Sharon McNeill of Murray; daughters, Marcie (husband Terry) Miller of Thayer and Jennifer (husband Korey) Seales of Lorimor; sons, Timothy (wife Stephanie) McNeill of Tipton and David (wife Christie) McNeill and Daniel (wife Emily) McNeill, all of Afton; mother Irene McNeill of Spirit Lake; grandchildren, Cody (wife Sarah) Miller, Jessica and Nick Miller, Kaelee, Joseph and Austin McNeill, Cora McNeill, Kyle, Kole and Kael Seales and Molly, Augustin, Paul and Adam McNeill; sisters, Rachel (husband William) Vick of Loveland, Colo., and Kathryn McNeill of Spirit Lake; brother-in-law Lynn Kueck of Algona; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Ted was preceded in death by his father; sister Sheryll Kueck and niece Kristine Kueck.
