BEDFORD — Corning gave Bedford a good battle, but came up short in a 19-25, 25-19, 18-25, 20-25 loss to the Bulldogs here on Tuesday.

Marie Palmer and Ella Akin were strong at the net in the loss for Corning, with 12 and 11 kills respectively.

Palmer also added five total blocks and four aces, while Sydney Maynes added four total blocks.

Kelsie Kinman had two aces and finished with a team-high 17 digs for the Red Raiders.

Caitlyn Damewood dished out 14 assists, while Taylor Damewood added 12 assists.

“I am really proud of my girls tonight,” head coach Lindsay Wetzel said. “They fought hard every step of the way and we just came up short. Tonight we played as a team and did the best we could.

“Ella is our lone senior, and she really stepped up her game tonight, and played outstanding. Kelsie Kinman was great on defense. I feel like my kids did a great job of coming together and working hard all year long.”

Bedford advances to the regional semifinal against Stanton.
