AARP invites community to Medicare, Social Security listening post
Creston area residents are invited to join AARP Iowa noon Monday at Creston Senior Center, restored Creston Depot, 116 W. Adams St., for a “You’ve Earned a Say” session about the future of Medicare and Social Security.
“AARP is taking the debate about the future of Medicare and Social Security out from behind closed doors in Washington so Iowans can have a voice,” said Kent Sovern, state director for AARP Iowa. “Our members and older Iowans have worked too hard to let the next president and Congress decide the future of Medicare and Social Security without hearing from us.”
AARP research shows that 95 percent of Americans think Washington should spend more time listening to ordinary citizens like them when it comes to decisions about Social Security and Medicare.
