Nodaway Valley 3, Van Meter 2

GREENFIELD — Nodaway Valley edged Van Meter 15-13 in the final set Tuesday to advance to a Class 2A semifinal match.

The Wolverines (13-16) won 25-23, 20-25, 14-25, 25-19, 15-13. NV advances to Friday’s semifinal match at Des Moines Christian in Urbandale.

“We started off really strong and excited,” said NV coach Carley Denton. “The second and third games we struggled to work as a team and stay aggressive. We didn’t give up and kept working to win the last two games. The girls worked hard for this win.”

Megan McIntosh smacked seven kills with three blocks, and served 18-19 with three aces and seven points. Christine Gross had a team-high eight kills. Ashley Thompson served 15-15 and was 13-19 setting with two assists. She also led serve receive at 11-13. Shelby Venteicher served 24 assists.
