Sharla Kay Black, 29, 216 Peterson St., was charged 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Union County Law Enforcement Center on a Union County warrant for serious assault.

According to a Creston Police report, on Oct. 12, officers were dispatched to the Union County Law Enforcement Center to speak with a female who stated she had been assaulted the night before. Upon arrival, officers spoke with Lora Knight, who stated the night before when she was at the Elm’s Club, she was approached by a female, who she later identified as Black, who asked her to go outside. Knight stated she told Black she didn’t know her and didn’t know why she wanted her to step outside. As they got to the door that led outside, Knight stated Black punched her in the left jaw causing her to fall down. Black continued to punch Knight as she tried to get up. Knight was able to get up and went inside. She was given a ride home from someone she knew in the bar. Statements and pictures of Knight were taken.

Black was released on $5,000 bond.
