Sharla Kay Black, 29, 216 Peterson St., was charged 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Union County Law Enforcement Center on a Union County warrant for serious assault.

According to a Creston Police report, on Oct. 12, officers were dispatched to the Union County Law Enforcement Center to speak with a female who stated she had been assaulted the night before. Upon arrival, officers spoke with Lora Knight, who stated the night before when she was at the Elm’s Club, she was approached by a female, who she later identified as Black, who asked her to go outside. Knight stated she told Black she didn’t know her and didn’t know why she wanted her to step outside. As they got to the door that led outside, Knight stated Black punched her in the left jaw causing her to fall down. Black continued to punch Knight as she tried to get up. Knight was able to get up and went inside. She was given a ride home from someone she knew in the bar. Statements and pictures of Knight were taken.

Black was released on $5,000 bond.

Shane Allen Dewees, 33, 314 1/2 N. Sycamore St., was issued a citation 7:20 p.m. Wednesday at the Union County Law Enforcement center for fifth-degree theft.

According to a Creston Police report, Dewees took gasoline from Casey’s, 612 New York Ave., without paying for the gasoline. The cost of the gasoline was $83.02.

Dewees was issued a police citation to appear.

Four people reported their gas tanks on their vehicles had been drilled between 2 p.m. Tuesday and 7 a.m. Wednesday.

James Haag, 1001 S. Sumner St., reported the gas tank on his Ford Ranger had been punctured twice with a drill while it was parked at his residence. Michael Anthony Tucker, 601 N. Chestnut St., reported the gas tank on his Dodge pickup was drilled while it was parked at 1001 S. Sumner St. Edward Miller, 1206 W. Mills St., and Charles Miller, 1200 W. Mills St., reported the gas tanks on their 2011 Chevrolet pickups were drilled while they were parked at their respective residences.

Damage estimates are $1,200 to Haag’s vehicle, $1,500 to Tucker’s vehicle and $2,000 each to Edward Miller and Charles Miller’s vehicles.
