Edna G. Rong, 98, of Clearfield died Oct. 28, 2012, at Clearview Home in Clearfield.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, at Clearfield United Methodist Church. The Rev. Shurmaine McAlpine will officiate. Burial will be in Clearfield Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Clearfield United Methodist Church. Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 W. Edna Rong, daughter of Callie (Griffith) and Walter Bailey, was born Aug. 9, 1914, at the family home in rural Clearfield.
Edna attended country school and graduated from Clearfield High School in 1931.
On July 4, 1935, Edna married Charles Wilbur Rong in Indianola.
Edna worked at Rong’s Variety Store, Hy-Vee Food Store, Richey’s Drug Store and as a bookkeeper at Rong’s Pioneer Seedcorn business.
Edna was active in the Methodist Church and Eastern Star.
Edna is survived by her daughter Jane (husband Roger) Bell of Atlantic; daughter-in-law Janice Rong of Des Moines; grandchildren, Scott (wife Dawn) Rong, John Rong (companion Hillary Lockard), Brett Bell, Lisa (husband Larry) Holleran and Clint Bell (companion Tracy Helvie); and great-grandchildren, John, Rebecca and Rachel Rong, Zoe Brinkley, and Sophia Bell.
Edna was preceded in death by her husband in 1996; son Bill Rong in 2009; parents; and siblings Gale, Cecil, Addis and Helen.
