Parent Teacher Organization Carnival planned for Friday

Published: Monday, Oct. 29, 2012 11:30 a.m. CDT

The Creston Early Childhood Center (ECC)/Elementary Parent Teacher Organization is planning a carnival for 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Creston Elementary School.

This year’s carnival, which is funded by the PTO with support from the community, will include activities like face painting, temporary tattoos, bottle toss and cake walk.

Games start at 5:30 p.m. Wristbands are new this year. Bands are $15 and can be used with no limit at most games and activities excluding the general store and food/concessions. Tickets will also be for sale in $5 bundles or 25 cents each. Games will take one to eight tickets to play.

Supper will be available starting at 5:30 p.m. and include hamburgers, plus sides. A $5 hamburger meal deal will be available. Snacks of popcorn, cotton candy and slushies will also be available.

Raffle prizes will be given away toward the end of the event. Raffle items include $500 cash, $250 cash and other prizes. Raffle tickets are $1 and can be purchased the night of the carnival.

Attendees may bid on donated items during the silent auction. Parents and students from elementary classrooms donated items for themed gift baskets. The baskets will be on display throughout the night. Bidding will end at 8 p.m., and the highest bid wins the basket.

New this year, “celebrity” cakes and pies will be auctioned off in a live auction after the silent auction and before the raffle begins. Be sure to bid on cakes made by your favorite teacher or friend of the school.

The carnival is a fundraiser with proceeds going to fund teaching supplies, technology, books and more. The PTO hopes to generate funds to enhance education.

The PTO reorganized four years ago and has been working on projects to help the teachers and students.

Children are asked to come with an adult.
