Somers qualifies for state swimming in four events

FORT DODGE — Creston High School freshman Camryn Somers, swimming for Waukee High School, was successful in all four of her events in the state qualifying meet Saturday at Fort Dodge High School.

Somers, also a basketball player and track runner at CHS, qualified in one individual event and three relays for the Warriors at the state meet this Saturday in Marshalltown. West Des Moines Valley rolled to the team title with 525 points. Waukee was second with 423 points in the nine-team field.

Champions in each event from the six regionals across the state automatically qualify for the state meet. The rest of the field comes from the next best 18 times across the state.
