Crest Area for Life

Crest Area for Life met 7:30 p.m. Oct. 23 at Holy Spirit hall for its annual meeting. President Rich Madison opened up the meeting with the right to life prayer. Ten members were in attendance.

Terry Madison gave the secretary reports for September and the annual report. The September minutes were corrected and both were approved.

Pat Pokorny gave the treasurer’s reports for September and annual report. Both reports were approved.

Seventeen baby congratulatory cards were sent this year and one sympathy card.

There was no old business.

Under new business, LifeCare Pregnancy Center in Stuart is having an open house 1 to 4 p.m. Nov. 17.

Jeremy Rounds made a motion, seconded by Meg Crawford, to accept the slate of officers as follows: Betty Baker, president; Meg Crawford, vice president; Pat Pokorny, treasurer and Terry Madison, secretary. It was approved.

The next meeting will be Nov. 27.

Terry Madison made a motion to adjourn and Rounds seconded the motion.

Ladies Lakeshore Auxiliary

Ladies Lakeshore Auxiliary met Oct. 24.

Canasta winners were Mary Kline, first; Beulah McDonald, second; and Rose Blakesley, third.

Marilyn Larimore won the door prize.

The next meeting will be Wednesday, Nov. 7, with Loretta Kelly as hostess.

Beta Sigma Phi

Alpha Sigma Master Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met Oct. 25 at Summit House with Bev Miller as hostess.

Prior to the business meeting, the social chairman conducted a Halloween treasure hunt, in which each member was assigned to find 10 hidden items from identical lists. Marilyn Blazek was awarded the prize. Members took home painted-face pumpkins as favors.

Miller presided at the business meeting. All members were present, and answered roll call with “A Halloween trick I have played.” A thank you note was received regarding guest day.

Program Chairperson Loretta Kelly reviewed plans for the Nov. 8 meeting, which is supper with spouses or guests at The Pizza Ranch. Social Chairperson Marilyn Larimore announced voting for the “Christmas Angel” will take place at that meeting.

There was discussion on giving a gift basket at Christmas. Larimore and Norma Putnam will explore possibilities for this. Larimore read from the Book of Beta Sigma Phi regarding paid-up fees.
