Miller gave the program about old buildings in downtown Creston, and the various businesses that have been located there. She also shared magazine items.

United Methodist Women

UMW wrapped up their mission project of UMCOR kits. Types of kits assembled were school, health, layette and birthing kits and three clean-up buckets. The Missions Committee thanks the women for their efforts, time and financial commitment to this mission. A special thank you to Bobi Woodin for her efforts to raise money for the Church World Service blanket program.

UMW extends a thank you to the community for the support of the yearly fall dinner Oct. 28.

All circles met Oct. 18 at the church.

The morning circle met when Susan Weight called the seven members to order and reported on the final count of mission kits.

The news that the afternoon circle will soon disband was shared, and any members who wish to join the morning circle are invited to do so.

Betty Lou Shea shared an article from “Repsonse,” the mission magazine of the United Methodist Women.

Colleen Brotherton gave the lesson titled “Healing: Deaconesses and Home Missionaries at Home.”

After dealing with business and learning from the program, Joann Connor served mid-morning snacks.

The afternoon circle met with eight members and two guests present. The guests were Jerrie Henderson, UMW president, and Jhona Lyn Gallo, who presented the program by explaining her training and work in the Philippines as a Deaconess in the United Methodist Church.

Beth Perry conducted the business meeting focusing on the fall dinner.

Peg Anderson volunteered to be hostess for the Nov. 15 meeting.

It was decided to hold a circle meeting Dec. 20 at the home of Vaughn Seckington. This is a change from the yearbook.

The Rev. Gideon Gallo, Ruthie and Joshua joined the group for refreshments. “Happy Birthday” was sung to Gideon.

The evening circle met with 10 members, and chairperson Rosalie Denton called for election of officers for 2013. Officers will stay the same with the exception of secretary-treasurer. For this office, Sandy McNichols will replace Claudine Sammons. Thanks to Sammons for her service.
