Leona Jordening Corning

Leona Anna Jordening, 97, of Corning died Nov. 3, 2012, at Corning Nursing and Rehab Center.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Corning. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Corning. Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday with family present 5 to 7 p.m. at Roland Ritchie Funeral Home, 905 Benton Ave., Corning. Memorials may be directed to Redeemer Lutheran Church or The Lutheran Hour. Online condolences may be left at www.ritchiefuneralhome.com.

Leona Anna Jordening, daughter of Rosa (Christ) and August Janssen, was born June 3, 1915, near Harbine, Neb.

Leona attended and was married at Zion Lutheran Church near Harbine. She attended Zion parochial school, Harbine public school and graduated from Fairbury High School in 1933.

On Feb. 16, 1936, Leona married William C. Jordening.

William and Leona lived on farms in Jefferson County, Neb., until 1948, when they moved to a farm at Mount Etna and later to Corning.

Leona was an Avon Representative many years.

Leona is survived by her children, Merle (Lois) Jordening of Corning, Joyce (Raymond) Brandt of Hastings, Neb., and Curtis (Linda) Jordening of Flower Mound, Texas; grandchildren, Kenneth Jordening of Norman, Okla., Thomas (Janet) Jordening of Hornick, Ronald Jordening of Falls City, Neb., David (Lisa) Brandt of Hastings, Neb., Gary (Janet) Brandt of Kearney, Neb., Douglas (Delphine) Brandt of Kingman, Ariz., Christopher (Julie) Jordening of Prosper, Texas, and Darcie (David) Boughton of Double Oak, Texas; 20 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Marcella Jordening of Ames; many friends, nieces, and nephews.

Leona was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1968; triplet great-grandchildren; brother Walter and sister Esther.
