Raiders place seven on first team all-district

The Mount Ayr Raiders placed seven  players on the Class 1A District 7 all-district first team, including two unanimous decisions, after going 11-1 this season.

Senior wide receiver Braydee Poore made the first team offense as a unanimous decision, while sophomore lineman Joe Ricker made the first team defense as a unanimous decision.

Junior quarterback Jacob Sobotka and junior linemen Mason Mercer and Levi Martin made the first team offense, as well.

Senior lineman Johnathan Triggs and senior fullback and linebacker Zane Sickels made the first team defense.

Junior receiver Erik Freed made the second team offense, while senior linebacker and receiver Shane Swank and junior defensive back Lincoln Martin were named to the second team defense.

Honorable mention selections for the Raiders were juniors Cody Stackhouse and Matt Poore.

The Raiders also placed eight players on the academic all-district team. They are senior Johnathan Triggs and juniors Jacob Beamgard, Noah Larsen, Mason Mercer, Ryan Parrott, Matt Poore, Jacob Sobotka and Hagan Willis.
