Donald Oxenreider Ames

Donald Oxenreider, 84, of Ames died Nov. 12, 2012, at Riverside Manor in Ames.

Funeral services will be noon Thursday, Nov. 15, at New Life Church, 6036 NE 12th Ave., Pleasant Hill. Burial will be in Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Adams Funeral Home, 502 Douglas Ave., Ames, is in charge of arrangements. Donald Ray Oxenreider was born June 3, 1928, in Des Moines.

Donald graduated from East High School in 1946.

He joined the United States Army, where he spent most of his time in Japan.

Donald graduated from William Penn College and taught and coached in New London, Granger and Ankeny.

Donald worked for Phillips Petroleum and moved to Creston to run the gas business. He later worked for the Omaha World Herald.

Donald was a member of Za-Ga-Zig Shrine.

Donald is survived by his son Craig of Aurora, Colo.; daughter Debra (Mark) of Ames; grandchildren, Jenna and Connor; and sister Mary Lou (Don) Paul of Inglewood, Colo. Donald was preceded in death by his parents.
