Adair-Casey 59, Lenox 14
LENOX — A strong start in the first quarter propelled Adair-Casey to a 59-14 win over Lenox here Tuesday night.
The Tigers drop to 0-1 for the season with the loss.
Adair-Casey held a 22-2 lead after the first quarter, and 38-9 at halftime.
London Vais scored a game-high 18 points for Adair-Casey, while Quinn Ruth and Katie Clarke added 12 and 11, respectively.
Aurora Aravelo led the Tigers with six points and added three rebounds. Katie Dukes scored four points and had four rebounds to go along with a team-high four steals.
Junior Taylor Foster had a team-high five rebounds for the Tigers, while junior Sydney Barker added four rebounds and two points. Ashley Heston had two points and three rebounds.
Lenox travels to Villisca on Nov. 27.
Murray 39,
SE Warren 38
MURRAY — Murray let a big fourth-quarter lead slip away before pulling off a 55-50 victory in overtime here Tuesday over Southeast Warren.
The Mustangs move to 1-0 for the season, while Southeast Warren drops to 0-1.
“This was your typical first game of the year that you are so glad to get out of the way,” Murray head coach Jerry Shields said.
Southeast Warren outscored Murray 12-1 in the fourth quarter to force overtime, but Murray won the overtime period 13-8.
Kate Patton led all scorers with 26 points, and also collected eight steals to go along with four rebounds and two assists.
Ashley Rider contributed six points and 11 rebounds, while Megan Oswald, Madison Gonseth and Courtney Siefkas each recorded five points.
Oswald posted a teamhigh 12 rebounds, and also added six steals. Cheyanne Ashby and Deena Snyder each finished with four points.
Murray hosts Mount Ayr on Monday in a boys and girls doubleheader.
Nodaway Valley 52, WCV 45
GREENFIELD — Nodaway Valley won its season opener, 52-45, over West Central Valley here Tuesday.
West Central Valley held a 23-19 lead at halftime, but Nodaway Valley outscored WCV 33-22 in the second half.
Sydney Reeves had 17 points and seven rebounds for the Wolverines, who relied on scrappy defensive pressure to post the victory. Josie Carter added 11 points and four assists, Kysa Downing had nine points and six rebounds and Shelby Venteicher contributed seven points and five of the team’s 14 steals.
West Central Valley’s leaders were sophomore Bailee Arnburg with 16 points and senior Jess Pieper with 11. Sophomore Olivia McAtee added nine.
“It was a nice win to start the season,” coach Tom Thompson said. “Turnovers were a problem, but we cut them in half in the second half. Our 58 percent (18-31) was just enough to seal the win.”
