Shawnna Curtis — Creston

Shawnna Curtis, 26, of Creston, died Nov. 21, 2012, east of Stanton from injuries resulting in a vehicle/deer accident.

Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1000 Cottonwood, Creston. Burial will be private. Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 25 and 34, Creston is assisting with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family. Shawnna Michelle (Powell) Curtis, daughter of Michael Alan Powell and Judy Kay (Fowler) Powell, was born on Aug. 11, 1986, in Emporia, Kan.  She was baptized as one of the Jehovah’s Witnesses Dec. 12, 1998, and volunteered much of her time helping others learn about the Bible.

In May 2004, Shawnna graduated from Chapman High School in Chapman, Kan.

On Nov. 6, 2004, Shawnna married Austin Daniel Curtis in Emporia, Kan. They moved to Creston.

Shawnna was a Certified Zumba Instructor in Creston, Red Oak and Corning.

Shawnna is survived by her husband Austin Curtis of Creston; parents, Mike and Judy Powell of Abilene, Kan., grandparents, Jule and Imogene Fowler and Austin Powell Sr.; siblings, Chelsea, Austin and Lydia Powell; parents-in-law, Dan and Diana Curtis of Creston; brothers-in-law, Gabe (wife Emileah) Curtis and Gordon Curtis, all of Creston; sisters-in-law, Rachel and Olivia Curtis of Creston; grandparents-in-law, Ronald and Beverly Shelley of Creston and Ivan and Karen Fredericksen of Patterson and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
