Southwestern women stumble in Trenton
TRENTON, Mo. — The Southwestern Community College women’s basketball team came home with a 71-53 loss to North Central Missouri College here on Tuesday.
The Spartans committed 11 first-half turnovers while shooting just 25 percent from the field, as the Lady Pirates took a commanding 41-19 lead into halftime.
“The tale of two halves that has plagued us all year reared itself again tonight,” head coach Brett Gilcrist said. “I really liked our energy during pregame and felt confident we would be ready to play. Sadly, it took less than three minutes for me to see that we were going to struggle yet again to limit our turnovers, make open shots and rebound the basketball on the defensive end.”
