Accident

Alexander Daniel Chapman, 16, 106 N. Bureau St., was cited for failure to maintain control after an accident 8:18 p.m. Friday at South Park Street.

According to a Creston Police report, Chapman, driving a 2002 Pontiac south on South Park Street, had struck a utility pole and sheared it off after he lost control of his vehicle. Chapman stated he had been driving faster than the posted speed limit but was unsure of how fast he was actually driving at the time of the accident. Chapman and his passenger were transported by ambulance to Greater Regional Medical Center.

Damage estimates are $300 to the utility pole and $10,000 to Chapman’s vehicle.

Blake Joseph Gunter, 24, 203 S. Lincoln St., was charged 6:41 p.m. Saturday for disorderly conduct, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to maintain control, failure to provide security/liability accident and operating without registration after an accident 6:24 p.m. Saturday at West Adams and Lincoln streets.

According to a Creston Police report, officers were dispatched to 1015 West Adams for an injury related accident. Upon arrival, officers noticed a red Chevy Monte Carlo resting against a tree. Officers were able to dentify Gunter as the registered owner through the license plate and located him at his residence. Gunter stated he was driving the vehicle. Gunter appeared to be intoxicated and stated to officers that he had been drikning after he had been home after the accident. After many warnings to stop yelling at officers, Gunter was charged and transported to the Law Enforcement Center.

He was released on promise to appear.

Damage estimate is $2,000.
