Hitting camp

The 2012 Southwestern Community College Winter Hitting Camp for grades 3-12 will be held Dec. 26-28 in the SWCC Student Center gymnasium.

Session I each day will be 9 a.m. to noon for grades 3-6. Cost is $75. Session II each day will be 1 to 4 p.m. for grades 7-12. Cost is $75. Campers are instructed to bring their own bat.

Camp director and chief instructor is SWCC athletic director Bill Krejci, longtime SWCC baseball coach who has also coached five USA Baseball national teams to three gold and two silver medals in the World Games.

Krejci is a member of the Northwest Missouri State University Hall of Fame and the Iowa Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame. The instruction staff will include present and former players from Southwestern, alongwith local high school coaches.

Creston High School Salt and Peppers performat the state contest Thursday and Friday in Des Moines.

On Thursday the coed team performs at 11:39 a.m. and the all-male team at 1:23 p.m. at Wells Fargo Arena.

On Friday the Peppers will perform their “lights” routine at 11:53 a.m. at Hy-Vee Hall.
