FONTANELLE — Nodaway Valley got off to a 19-5 start in beating the Creston seventh-grade girls Monday, 41-14.

Sadie Marnin scored 17 points in Nodaway Valley’s third game of the season. Chloe Hagle had eight opints in Creston’s season opener.

“It’s the first game,” Creston coach Jim Hyde said. “The girls learned a lot.”

Creston hosts Clarinda at 4 p.m. today.

Creston (14) — Chloe Hagle 8, Victoria Borha 4, Cayla Maitlen 1, Breanna Wallace 1.

Nodaway Valley (42) — Jodi Baudler 17, Mara Juffer 9, Breanna WEiland 6, Briana Lily 4, Sadie Marnin 4, Katelyn James 2.

FONTANELLE — An 11-0 third quarter blew open Nodaway Valley’s 41-14 victory over Creston in eighth-grade girls basketball Tuesday.

Hannah Hood had 10 points and three rebounds for Creston. Cammy Rutherford added four points, six rebounds and five steals.

Josie Clark led a balanced Nodaway Valley offense with 11 points.

“It was good for us to play a game, and see what we have to work on,” said Creston coach Anthony Donahoo.

Creston hosts Clarinda at 5:30 p.m. today.
