LAMONI — Murray broke open a tie ballgame with a 14-4 second quarter en route to defeating Lamoni 37-18 here Tuesday.

Kate Patton led the Mustangs in scoring with 14 points, while also pulling down five rebounds. Cheyanne Ashby added six points and five rebounds. Both Patton and Ashby collected four steals apiece.

Madison Gonseth pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds while chipping in five points. Megan Oswald added five points and five boards. Ashley Rider scored four points and grabbed four rebounds.

Deena Snyder added two points and four rebounds.

The Mustangs host Twin Cedars on Friday.

Villisca 69,

Lenox 28

VILLISCA — Villisca jumped out to a 30-5 lead in the first quarter on its way to a 69-28 win over Lenox here on Tuesday.

Madison Douglas led the Lenox Tigers with 11 points despite being in foul trouble for most of the game.

Aurora Aravelo chipped in four points and added seven rebounds, while Katie Dukes scored two points, dished out two assists and had a team-high eight rebounds.

Sydney Barker added five points and Taylor Foster scored four points. Regan Tullberg finished with five rebounds.

Villisca had three players finish in double figures scoring, with Moranne Haer and Jill Vanderhoof each finishing with 17 points and Amanda Focht scoring 12.

Lenox falls to 0-2 for the season.
