ARL helps rescue six significantly neglected horses in Union County

DES MOINES – The Animal Rescue League of Iowa (ARL) in Des Moines assisted Union County officials Thursday to remove six injured and significantly neglected horses from a less than one-acre property owned by Kent Douglas Uitts in Lorimor.

The horses were relocated to the ARL’s Kruidenier Rescue Ranch at the main campus in Des Moines, where they will receive needed veterinary care, food and shelter.

“These horses had been living without food, shelter and veterinary care for an undetermined amount of time. The horses now face a long road to recovery as we head into the coldest months of the year,” said Scott Wilson, cruelty investigator for the ARL.
