Charges filed against owner of neglected Union County horses

Charges have been filed against Kent Douglas Uitts, 54, of Lorimor on Union County warrants for six counts of livestock neglect.

The Animal Rescue League of Iowa (ARL) in Des Moines assisted Union County officials in removing six severely neglected horses, one of which was injured, from Uitt's property Thursday.

According to Union County Sheriff Rick Piel, the first report of the neglected horses was received by his office in March. Several calls have been received since.
