MURRAY — Murray bolted out to a 23-8 lead in the first quarter on its way to a 71-44 win over Twin Cedars here on Friday.
Eddie Otto led the way, shooting 6-of-10 from beyond the 3-point arc, netting 22 points to go with five rebounds.
“Eddie Otto was really hitting tonight as he hit six 3-pointers in the first half,” head coach Darin Wookey said. “I also thought that Sam Rockhold and Pat Kilmer were great tonight on the galss and provided additional scoring points.”
Kilmer grabbed 10 rebounds while Rockhold pulled down nine boards. Austin Halls added 16 points, nine assists and four steals. Cody Scroggie added nine points with four assists for the Mustangs, now 3-0.
Murray hosts Melcher-Dallas tonight.
Nodaway Valley 96, East Union 14
AFTON — Nodaway Valley held East Union to just two made field goals — both in the second quarter — while forcing 40 turnovers in a 96-14 win here on Friday.
Wolverine senior Alex Welsch had another strong game, scoring 19 points with 15 rebounds, six blocks and four assists. Brad Baudler led the Wolverines in scoring with 23 to go with seven assists and five steals.
Dan Ehrsam contributed 18 points with seven assists and five steals, while Tim Hansen poured in 11 points off the bench.
Cole Campbell and Dustin Hoyt led the Eagles in scoring with three points each.
Mount Ayr 64, Corning 16
MOUNT AYR — Mount Ayr held a 22-6 lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back in a 64-16 win over Corning here on Friday.
The combination of Jake Still and Braydee Poore proved to be lethal, as the two combined to score 49 points on 22-of-33 shooting. Poore scored 24 to go with six rebounds and two steals, while Still added 25 with four rebounds and six assists.
Dylan Doman dished out five assists and had five steals to go with four points for the Raiders.
Blaine Williams led the Red Raiders in scoring with six, while Keegan Longabaugh, Bryan Pearson, Nick Spring and Ryan Carlson each added two points. Spring pulled down five rebounds and Lane Peterson finished with three assists for Corning.
“We lost some of our momentum we’d built up from our previous practices and game,” Corning head coach Pete Nett said. “Mount Ayr really did a nice job of overplaying some of the passing lanes that we use to run some of our sets, and we simply didn’t adjust to that style of play.”
Mount Ayr hosts East Union tonight, while Corning hosts Bedford.

ORIENT — Grand View used a 22-5 first quarter advantage to roll to an 80-16 win over Orient-Macksburg here on Friday.
Chantz Davidson led the way for the Bulldogs with 12 points and eight rebounds, while James Sullivan and Jacob Caviness each scored two points.
Orient-Macksburg, now 0-2, travels to Paton-Churdan tonight.
